Raymond Cooley
The Man who was DeterminedRaymond Cooley was raised in Dunlap, Tennessee. He enlisted into the army, and after being trained found himself in a major battle. In battle, he was able to lead a grenade attack in Luzon against the enemy. He started out by fighting alone in the dangerous attack, but his bravery inspired others to join the assault. Cooley ultimately sacrificed his life in order to save his fellow troops by jumping on top of an enemy grenade to absorb the blast. In this blast he survived, but lost a hand. He was awarded the Medal of Honor on July 4th of 1946. His determined mind set got him and his troops through the battle.
